Now that I am back to doing blogs, I decided to jump right into it with a topic that bothers me.
Gay Marriage and the big debate on whether or not it should be allowed.
How in 2009 is this a problem for people? In a country where we are “free” to live as we choose other people are trying to tell other people what they can and cannot do.
Look at it from a financial stand point. Looking for a good way to stimulate the economy? The average wedding in NYC costs between 15 and 30 thousand. Now, not to make a blanket statement but do you know who has money and would love to have big lavish weddings? Gay men. Catering halls, limo drivers and other wedding service jobs are dependent on weddings. If you increased the number of weddings going on in a given year those workers make something called TAXABLE INCOME. What do those people do with this windfall? SPEND IT.
What small or large city in America wouldn’t benefit from becoming Gay Wedding Friendly? Hell, what business wouldn’t?
First, lets look at a city. I will pick Atlantic City, NJ. Now, the hotel and casino business is down. What would happen if New Jersey would “allow” same sex marriages? Wouldn’t those rooms fill up with out of towners that if there was a wedding gone on? What would those hotel and hotel workers be doing? Oh yeah, generating TAXABLE INCOME. Isn’t there a resort in PA that was for “lovers only”? Didn’t said place have on site a wedding chapel? Yes, I am talking about “beautiful Mount Airy Lodge.” Now, for a while the place was closed and run down, much like many of the resorts in the Poconos. Wouldn’t their business and ALL local businesses benefit from having some Gay Newlyweds running around spending money? What would that money be called? Oh yeah, TAXABLE INCOME.
Now, let’s look at some other ways that “allowing” Gay People to marry. Picture a car dealership outside of Atlantic City. On Sunday they could run a special or something where the first 10 Same Sex Partners that come in with a VALID NJ wedding license will get 5,000 off the sticker price of a new car. Restaurants can’t benefit from this can they? Hmmm, on Sunday’s the first 5 Same Sex Wedding Partners that produce a VALID NJ marriage license will get a free breakfast when they come in with their family and friends. What would all these businesses be doing? GENERATING TAXABLE INCOME while opening themselves up to a new customer base.
I really just can’t believe that the religious nuts in this country think it is ok for them to tell other people how to live. How Gay people are a threat to their GOD. I would rather listen to the words of The Lord of the Dance guy before listening to the “words” of someone that they think they are speaking for.
Get over it.
