Primitive Radio God

Ok, so the headline is a bit misleading but if it read “Primitive Internet Radio Dork” who would read it? So, this week I gave my first newpaper interview to a local Brooklyn newspaper, The Greenpoint Star. The author of the article is a listener of the show. When she asked me via email about the article, I was flattered. I have never done anything like this but she assured me that it would be cool and I wouldn’t come off sounding like, well, a dork.

The article is up on their site (link), Danielle is going to send me some copies of the paper. I will not lie, I am pretty proud of myself right now.

Thank you everyone for listening, reading the blogs and for spreading the word about the show. The cult is growing because of you.

Can I have another option please?

The Tennessee Tribune has printed a list of all registered voters that did not vote in the 2004 Presidential Election in hopes that they can “shame people into doing the right thing.” I have a few questions: 1) Are you for real? 2)Is this legal? 3)What do you care? 4)Get a grip? (ok, its not a question but it needed to be said.)

What is it any of their business if someone votes or not? I didn’t vote in ’04. You want to know why? Because both ass-hats that were running sucked. GWB or his mirror image Kerry? Come on, I don’t blame people one bit for not voting either. My NON Vote was my vote. I didn’t cast my vote for either one of those guys because I didn’t want them to think that I was drinking their Kool-Aid. They shouldn’t have thought that I was buying what snake oil they were selling.

Does this fall under freedom of the press? Isn’t our electoral process about the our right to choose or not to choose? What’s next, published a list of people that voted the against your candidate and/or argument? Pure bullshit! The rights of the people are being taken away one by one and we let it happen. This time, a newspaper took away our right to privacy.

Is it really anyone’s business how or if I vote? Does it effect you if I don’t vote? Since Clinton’s second victory in 1996, I have not voted. Why? I didn’t the people running. I still kept registering, just in case I wanted to back a horse in the race. No one lost sleep over it. Not even once. So, why now?

Now, I know it is important to vote but if you do not like either guy running, what are you supposed to do? Close your eyes and pick one? Flip and coin and pull the lever? I would be more outraged if I found out that people were doing that.

How about the people that are worried about what other people are doing have a beer and unwind a bit. It couldn’t happen soon enough for me.

Peoples of the opposite sex……

Ok, now I know that I am lucky to be married. My wife is great and I am a better person for being with her.

With that said, how the hell do people date today? Men are lying animals and women mostly come across as wanting someone to be their sugar daddy so that they can pop out a kid and never go back to work. Now I know I am making broad statements but lets look at each of my comments a bit closer.

Men: lying animals. A girl that I met last week, lets call her “Sarah”. Sarah is very pretty, sweet girl. She works, she is fun, dresses nice, comes from a good family and all that jazz. In short, she is catch. She was dating a guy and then one day she didn’t hear from him. She checked around a bit and realized that he has taken some money from her and took off for Florida to be with his baby momma. Sarah did some checking and she found out that he is married to another chick. THREE CHICKS! THREE! Is this guy hung like a horse to have three women going in his rotation? Do you know how many night I stayed home dateless?

Women: in summary, leeching baby factories. I cannot tell you how many women I have dated that on the first date would bring up wedding and kid time frames. One young lady and her one track mind of getting hitched and spawning was so over the top that I would cut and paste her IMs to Regina before we started dating. Another, lets call her “Jill” went to school for teaching and worked her ass off to get her Master’s degree all under the pretense of meeting a gentlemen caller at a school to marry and have kids so that she could stay home. Countless times she could heard saying before a date “Ok, keep your fingers crossed for me. With any luck, I will get knocked up tonight and be set.” I would often wonder if she was insane.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. This is a topic that I will revisit and expand on in the future.

The State of Things….

This blog maybe a bit herky jerky today, sorry in advance.

In a week from now we will elect either the oldest President of record and the first female Vice President OR the frist Black President and a man that is as bland as a bottle of Poland Spring as the Vice President. Both sets of candidates will lead this country into a new era with promises of change and the ability of leadership to return this country to its glory.

Then why are things getting worse? Here in NYC, construction in slowing down, retail has dropped to record lows, Broadway shows will be closing, magazines are going under, office Christmas parties are canceled, etc are taking its toll on people’s moral.

I had to give 5 bucks to a single mom on the train today for lunch. I know she was a single mom cause her baby was with her. I just don’t ever remember things being this bad. Maybe it is our generations’ turn to “have it bad.” Maybe we have had it too good for too long. Maybe the suffering will build some character. Maybe once it is all over and things are back to normal we can look back and say “God damn, we made it through that mess” and appreciate the status quo a bit more.

I doubt it though.

Getting healthy

So for most of my life, I have had a weight problem. I come from a family that insisted that you clean your plate at dinner or else you had to trouble. Over the summer, I got into WiiFit and Yoga, it was so much fun. I was losing weight, having fun and getting healthy. Then I stopped doing it all because I was getting stressed out with lay offs coming at work. I was laid off for a week or so and now that I am on a project that is going to go on for the next few months, I am going to get back into both.

Yoga is very relaxing and is great for my back. It is taxing on my joints while I am doing it since I have never been in these positions but I cannot believe how good I feel afterwards.

The WiiFit is just fun. No matter what I am doing on it, it is fun. I can push myself and unlock other games while getting in shape. Jogging? I would never jog in public since I am very self conscience about how I would look. Here I would jogging down the street and my belly would be bouncing and people would be watching me. NO WAY! On the WiiFit, I can jog for 20 mins at a really good pace. I have no idea how “far” I am going while jogging in place but I am doing it regardless. The hula hoop and the step class is the most fun for me though.

On top of all that, I still walk Vegas everyday, weather permitting. Living here in Bay Ridge we can walk by the water and it is so relaxing. By the end of the winter, I want to be able to jog the route that Vegas and I walk.

Don Rigo Cigars: The Ad Campaign

Just for fun, we did a “commercial” for Don Rigo cigars. This one is the first in a series. These are all just for fun and Don Rigo has not asked us to do them. Should they not like them, we will stop doing them. Mainly, I am doing them so that we can learn some shooting and editing stuff while having some fun since we don’t expect much else.

The overall theme of them is “Don Rigo takes you away from it all”. Enjoy.

Chiller wrap up.

Well folks it would not be fair of me to post these blogs about the stuff we are doing for the show, my life and times, etc without discussing setbacks.

Today at Chiller, we didn’t have a real big setback but I saw that I need to be better prepared for the “LIVE” shoots. I can’t just fly by the seat of my pants like I do for most stuff in my life.

We filmed an opening segment and as soon as we walked in we saw that it was packed. I never never seen it so packed in the 3 years that have been going. The line to get tickets to get in was 10 people deep, I think we cut the line but not on purpose. The line for the autograph “pit” went around the hotel twice. It had to be a 2 hour wait. Now, I am not patient enough for that, I also do not see a reason to. I know that we want to get some interviews and promos for the show but this just didn’t feel right.

We then walked around to the other areas. The vendor’s area was so full that we could barely walk and looking at stuff was out of the question. We did get to see the zombie hunter show crew and taped a quick interview with them, so that will be up soon enough.

Going forward, we will need some help and suggestions from people on how to do this better. I am already coming up with our game plan for the Spring event.

Later.

Chiller!

For those that do not know, Chiller Theatre (www.chillertheatre.com) is a horror/sci fi convention that takes place in NJ twice a year. We go mainly to check out the has been or b-list actors and wrestlers that do autograph signings there. We also go to people watch. Some of the people that attend this event spend a lot of time on their costumes. Every time we go, there is a dude in a full Ghostbuster outfit. His proton pack looks just like the ones in the movie. We also go to hang out with our buddies, The Zombie Hunters.

It is a fun day over all. We have never walked out of there disappointed. Today, should be no different. We will have our video camera in tow, so look for some interviews and promos and us people watching in the next week or so and some photos.

Till later…….
