On The Experience this week, Regina asked me if there was a time in my life that I would like to revisit. Now for her it would be any age just to relive those days and to feel the experiences (no pun intended) again for the first time and to have her innocence restored. For me, I wouldn’t want to do any of it over again.
I am a firm believer of living in the now. There is no better time to be than right now. Now would I like to pull a Peggy Sue got married? To learn from my mistakes and go back to give my past self some advice to prevent those mistakes from happening? Not at all. Those mistakes and setbacks gave me the strength and knowledge to handle whatever life throws my way. They have made me who I am. Would I still get married to ex wife #1? Sure, the faults that me a crappy husband to her then have been brought to my attention and now make me a better husband to Regina.
Would I tell the 10 year old me not to sit around and blame himself for his dad leaving? My first reaction would be yes because it was a huge waste of time and energy. After I thought about it, I wouldn’t though. My Dad did me the biggest favor by leaving. Him not being around I learned what a man needed to do in order to take care of his family. Things that I might not ever have learned if he had been around.
I wanted to take a minute to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the food and try not to kill your family. My mom didn’t even get here yet and she is annoying me. Regina is nervous. She had me painting radiators at 11:00 last night.
One of the things I am thankful for are the listeners and followers of our show. I love what we are doing every week but I love watching the download numbers, you tube video views and suck go up. Thank you.
Last week we filmed a two part interview with musician Lisa Bianco (www.lisabianco.net). Lisa is as talented as she is pretty as she is sweet. This was a lot of fun for us as well as for Lisa. So much so that she will be one of the performers at the Night of the Living Bands II coming up in April. Enjoy the interview.

During the Giuliani regime NYC’s homeless people and panhandlers were treated like criminals. If the police came across a street person they would either lock them, take them to a shelter or to a local hotel and the city would pay for them to spend the night there and off the streets. This was all done under the guise of “improving the quality of life for all.”
Once Bloomberg was elected into office the flood gates on the homeless dam burst open and the returned in full force to the street and subway cars of NYC and it looks like they have been busy reproducing.
It is almost impossible to ride a subway to or from work without the mariachi band or break dance troupe performing on the train and asking for money a dollar. The best gimmick to me is the guy that says “I would rather beg you for some money rather than rob you.” Really? Go take the chance ans see how lucky you are. Lazy prick. The other one that I like is the “homeless mom” that is pushing a stroller with a cute little baby in it. At first glance this is heart breaking, it really is, but when I take a closer look, I see that they both are clean, are wearing different clean clothes each time and look well fed. The baby is even wearing better shoes than me. Here is a hint lady, you might want to drop a few pounds and not wash you hair for a few days because you are a little too plump and smell too clean to be a street dweller.
Maybe its me, maybe I have been jaded living in a Post Vince Mcmahon world for so long.
Every year around Thanksgiving it turns brutally cold for a week or two before the temperatures level off. During that time I can freeze my nipples off.
Since I got into construction and work in piss poor conditions, I cannot take the cold for too long. No matter how many layers of clothes I put on or how I bundle up the chill in my body remains until I get home and take a hot shower.
I would like to recondition myself to be able to handle the cold better, by exposing myself to the cold a bit more but in controlled situations. This way it would become callous, somewhat. Now, I am not looking to be a member of the Polar Bear club. You will not see me jumping into the water of Coney Island Beach on Thanksgiving or on New Year’s day. I just want to be more comfortable outside during my long work day.
I went on a job interview today. I think it went well and I hope they call me for a 2nd interview. While my mind was racing before and after the interview I had some thoughts on the whole process.
You make sure you look as good as possible in your “Sunday best”, interview clothes. You manage to look comfortable and confident while explaining your resume. In that time of social awkwardness you have sell yourself without overselling. They have to like you but not love you. You have to showcase your skills and eagerness without the interviewer feeling that you are aiming for their job, even though you are.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as I have said before. Now, it is a week away. My parents are starting to pack up for their long drive up. We have to the food ordered, the cleaning lady is scheduled, the dishes are here, blah blah blah.
Tonight though, I had a blog about homeless people all set but you will get it tomorrow night since Regina needs me to put up curtain and curtain rods tonight in the living and dining room. Tomorrow will be our bedroom and the 2nd bedroom but I will have the time needed for the blog.
In fact it is already “written” since my itouch has a note pad, I have done a few drafts for blogs that you will be seeing the rest of the week.
