Why yes, I am Superman

Today’s ride/walk home from work was maybe the oddest ever. I want to stress that ALL of this is true. Start to finish. I will list the events in numerical order.

1. walking to the train from the building I picked up a street vendors items that are for sale or she would have lost them and been out money. She said thank you and that I am blessed

2. While waiting for the train I give traveling directions to 3 different people and only one of them spoke English. I was able to understand Chinese and Spanish, figure out where they needed to do and tell them how to get there. I think they both blessed me

3. English speaking lost person gets on the same train as me and begins to talk to me. He is drunk and wants to talk about how his life is crappy. I give him the best advise that I could which was “gut it out. life works in cycles. If you are down now, you will be up soon. When you die, you look back and see things pretty much evened out.” He thanked me and told me that I made his Christmas

4. Walking down the street I see a lady standing next to her car with the door open. People are yelling at her to move so that they can drive passed her. I walk over and see that her dog is running around and will not get back in. I get the dog to come close to me and pick her up. The dog licks my face while I put her back in her car. The lady tells me thank you and gets herself situated in the driver’s seat.

5. I walk 20 feet from her and an Old Man is riding a bike next to me and falls into the street. I rush over to help him. He asks me if I speak Italian and I say “no”. I instruct him how to lean on me so that he can get up safely. After that I help him up with his bike and walk on.

6. I get to the corner and a lady is walking up the steps to her house with her kid. She drops the kids blanket so I pick up and hand it to her. As I am doing so, the lady with the dog drives past me and says “What are you Superman?”

She Wolves Interview Parts I and II

About a month ago, I sat down with Donna She Wolf and some of her bandmates, Tony and Ashe. I do not think I have had a better time interviewing anyone before. Check out their music at: shewolves.com

This was a lot of fun for me and I have to thank Shelly from samechick.com for having the patience to edit this for me.

Happy Whatever

Today at sundown starts Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights. Today is also the Pagan holiday of Winter Solstice, the day of longest night, the celebration of the Yule. In a few days other people will celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ, which was actually in the Spring time. Then Kwanza and then……. All of these different holidays really creates stress and division among people.

The Catholics and the born agains want you to say “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays”. I am not a PC type person at all BUT it does make MORE sense to say that since there is no sure fire way to know which holiday people celebrate.

On the other side of their holiday is the MASS consumerism that comes along with it. There are no holiday sales at the mall, there aren’t any Winter Solstice sales at the department stores. There are only Christmas sales and flyers and such. So it is safe to say that they won that fight. Their stick is bigger than the other guys’ sticks, mainly because they way back when, the peace and God loving people that they are killed anyone that disagreed with them.

Wouldn’t it be easier and nicer if we all had a holiday that ALL of us could celebrate together? Why have these holidays where we celebrate happiness and peace if we are pushing people away that do not believe what we believe?

If only…..

Great News!!!

Regina passed her driving exam today! I am very happy for her and for me since she wasn’t crying. Also, now I can drink and then shout “Drive me home woman!”

She passed the road test in a snow storm and in a different place than she took the first one.

To celebrate, we are drinking wine and I am working on a voice for a NEW character for this Sunday’s show.

Celebrity

I do not like to watch award shows. I find that the celebration of celebrities is silly. Right now, I am watching the 25th anniversary of Tom Cruise making movies on Oprah. I know, I am gay for watching Oprah but there is nothing on and it usually is just back ground noise.

With that said, why is he being honored? I have nothing against the guy. I do not agree with his stance on some things but he has the right to think and feel however he wants. He has had a long and successful career but he actors needs to be honored? Teachers, police officers, firemen, parents working two jobs to keep their kids in clean clothes need to be honored. Doctors working on possible cancer cures, people helping the sick and the poor should be honored. Not a guy that plays make believe and makes a nice amount of money doing so.

That’s all I wanted to say. Rant over.
