Tomorrow starts Lent and for 40 days you are supposed to give up something that is an indulgence in an effort that when Easter comes, you have been made a better person due to sacrifice.
Well, since I have already given up on drinking Beer for the rest of the year, Regina has suggested that I skip Lent, since she doesn’t that our marriage can handle the strain of me giving up something else that I enjoy. In my efforts to continue with my quest to make myself a better person this year, I will be giving up something that gives me great joy in doing, yet I know is a bad habit that I should correct.
No, I am not referring to masturbation, I KNOW our marriage could not handle that. As of midnight tonight, I will no longer be biting my nails. I cannot explain the pleasure I get from gnawing on my fingers till they bleed other that to say it is some kind of S & M thing with me but I know it is gross.
I will post my progress as I go along.
Stay Black.
I posted a blog about a month ago about the job interview process and how silly and hard that it can be. The only thing worse than trying to sell yourself for prefessional reasons is trying to do so for personal ones. Of course I am talking about dating.
There a few different ways to go, you try meeting someone at a bar, which great to find a one night stand or go out on blind dates and have to suffer going out with people that you will not like even though your friends insist that you will. Neither of those come close to Internet dating. Going online and “meeting” someone may be the greatest thing to happen to dating since horse tranquilazers.
How else can two people see what the other looks like, talk for hours all while never putting on a pair of pants?
The internet, helping the lazy and shy people of re world hook up since al gore invented it.

Last night, Regina and I met up with two good friends of ours, Matty and Liz for dinner at what has to be New Brunswick, NJ’s finest eatery, Steakhouse 85.
As soon as we walked in, we were met at the door by a polite lovely young lady, followed by a live piano player. While we waited for our friends to arrive, we shared a drink at the bar and were playing “name that tune”. The place itself looked like any other high end steak house with wood floor, over sized tables and a fire place.
What was a lot different here was the service. Each person on the wait staff spoke perfect English, all be it with a New Jersey twang (nobodies perfect) and were friendly. They even laughed at Matty’s jokes.
The food was to die for. Lobster Bisque soup for me to chase away the chill and salads for everyone else. I had Filet Mignon, Oscar Style (served with Crab Meat and Hollandaise sauce). It was cooked to perfection. I like my steaks to me cooked medium and the chef made it “true medium”, with an evenly charred crust along the top and a buttery soft middle. The sides that we all shared we sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese (my fav), onion rings and steak fries. Regina and I drank the house Sangria. The whole meal, start to finish was devine.
What impressed me most was the service. They were very friendly and patient. Our server, who’s name I did forget, sorry, waited for us to decided what we wanted to order while we chatted it up. Never at any point did I feel rushed so that they could turn the table over to another party. Several times, the owner of the establishment, Matty Terranova, came over to our table to personally check on the status of our meal. That in itself made me like the place even more. He wasn’t some manager, his name is on the place. He even hugged and kissed us all on our way out and wished us a safe trip home. He is a true restaurateur and should be commended for being a master of his trade.
